NEW AND FEATURED THIS MONTH November is the start of winter crops around here. We're starting off with a strong dose of the Indian Summer, but I'm sure that won't last. We had some healthy rains in October, and the bridge is back open, so maybe we'll have a happy and productive month. But there's also some big news at the Jungle. 1. The Succulent Wreaths are in.
Opening Night Party Friday, November 6, 3-6pm David Lipson - New RobotsEXHIBITION WREATHS and PANELS First up is the classic Succulent Wreath in 10" and 14" (pictured) ![]() Next we have our own take on this classic, the Tillandsia (Air Plant) Wreath in 14" ![]() And then we have our newest creation, the Succulent Wall Panel. ![]() And that is a solid wood frame around the succulents. CACTUS Coming into winter, we have only a few new cactus, and they're prickly pears!
SUCCULENTS First up we have 2 new succulents for us that look a lot like 2 other succulents we have had for years. But both are a little bit more vibrantly colored, and both are also a bit bigger.
Aeonium decorum "Tricolor" - so similar to Aeonium "Kiwi" that we have trouble telling them apart when they're small, but this one will get twice as big. Interestingly, they're cultivars from entirely different species.
Echeveria "Metallica" sure looks a lot like E. "Perle von Nurnberg" which has been very popular around the world, but looks like it is being replaced with the hardier, larger and more colorful "Metallica."
Dracaena draco - also known as the dragon tree. We have a couple gorgeous mid-sized specimens.
Euphorbia tirucallii - Some of it's common names include the Pencil Cactus and Firesticks.
Pleiospilos nelii - one of the living stones, nice round leaves, I think.
Senecio cylindricus - we've had gallons available, and now we have them in 4". RARE PLANTS
Rabiea albinota is a caudiciform mesemb! See that woody caudex among the lava? Plus big green leaves. It has everything you want in a rare plant, including the fact that we're not sure of the ID.
Euphorbia flanaganii - one of the Medusa's Head Euphorbias. These are stunning, in full bloom, and hardy outside in these parts, with good soils and maybe a little protection from the rare freeze.
Euphorbia lactea "Ghost" Crest - we usually only bring these out in winter. Maybe it's the red edge that makes us think these would sell best now. Stunning. HOUSEPLANTS Hap's been busy designing new terrariums, as if he wasn't busy enough with the wall panels.
Gorgeous! That deserves a closeup:
Since we added the Houseplant Room this spring, we've been busy adding more houseplants all the time. Take a look.
Here, take a look at some of them.
Papaya "Solo Sunrise" is delicious, so I've been told.
Orchids - Phalaenopsis in this case, so you know it's good. GIFTS
Bud Vases - from Chive, a great small company dedicated to the best glassware.
Succulent Candles - from Roost, a local Bay Area company that is making it big this year. PERENNIALS First up we have shade-loving Plectranthus with their orchid-like flowers in profusion. ![]() Plectranthus "Mona Lavender" ![]() Plectranthus argentatus ![]() Plectranthus ciliatus "Drege" is a groundcover. And the Sun-loving perennials that are also full of blooms: ![]() Salvia chamaedryoides - It's a soft and delicate sage, with blue flowers. ![]() Ruellia brittoniana "Katie Purple" is covered in buds and will be covered in purple flowers pretty soon. ![]() Ruellia makoyana is also known as the Monkey Plant, of course. FIBER POT LANDSCAPE SUCCULENTS
I see we have 2 new sempervivums. That would be Sempervivum "Averill" and "Moss Rose" which is just a fancy way of saying they are adorable.
