Who knew there were others doing this too, and that they had a formal name and PO Box too?
A young woman in a green jacket with horses printed all over it stopped to ask what they were doing.
“We’re gardening,” Reynolds told her.
“Who are you gardening for?”
“For everyone and ourselves,” he said. “We’re guerrilla gardeners.”

Have you ever done anything like this? Planted something on public property or on someone else’s under-utilized land?

Absolutely. Several years ago a neighbor at the southern, sunny end of the block let me use the weedy plot just beyond her unused and unusable garage. They moved, selling to a less amenable sort, so the weeds have returned. I sense a new presence there, though, so I have my hopes up . . .
In the meantime, I’ve managed to get gardening rights to the plot between the corner and mine, and I’ve just arranged to use a bit of space across the alley. The folks there were ready to kill everything and convert to grass, and are thrilled to have someone care for it in exchange for some vegies.
We’ll see if I can keep up with all this . . .
Your article reminds me of People’s Park.
