Rebutia pygmaea – small plants, small flowers, but what a color. They can double in number in a year, but they don’t get any bigger than a thumbnail or so.
If I could compose a song to these plants it would go something like this:
Rebutia, my rebutia
Oh I long to dance with my rebutia…
Well, you get the idea.

They certainly are beautiful! I can see where you might want to dance with them.

This is a beautiful color that I haven’t seen before in a cactus flower. I’ll have to get one.
Your breadth of talent never ceases to amaze me! Cactus expert, Dog photographer, Political commentator, video star, and now I find out you are a songwriter. As I mentioned before, it makes me want to drive to Berkeley and buy a cactus from you. But, gas is so expensive…maybe next year when we’ll all be drinking free Bubble-Up and eating Rainbow Stew.

Thanks! They really are that sherbert orange color. Very unusual. And like other rebutias, they keep reblooming throughout the summer.
